In addition to springs and shocks kits can include components like control arms/links, steering knuckles, spindles, crossmembers, radius arms and track bar, drop brackets, drop pitman arm, longer brake lines, etc. As lift heights get taller, lift kits become more complex because more extensive suspension modifications are required. As lifts get higher longer shocks are required and may be included, depending on the kit. Small lifts of 1-1.5” may only require coil spring spacers and/or leaf spring shackles. Torsion bar trucks use re-indexed torsion bar keys and for tall lifts relocate the torsion bars. In general, coil spring vehicles will get taller coil springs or coil spring spacers, leaf spring vehicles may get replacement springs with more arch, additional leaves, blocks and longer U-bolts, longer shackles, or some combination of the above.
The components included in a kit will vary according to suspension design and the height of the lift. Suspension lifts are available in mild 1-2” lifts up to 6-8” or even higher.
